Unmaskng.com had reported that a Twitter user, @KhalidOshoke, who took to his timeline and detailed the whole incident, saying the deceased whom he simply identified as Susan passed away while being rushed to a hospital after being electrocuted at the nightclub.

Explaining the incident, Obi Cubana released a statement, where he said she tripped and fell while leaving the club premises, after which she died untimely.

The statement read: “We wish to thank our esteemed patrons and customers for their love and support these last couple of days. Indeed, the loss of a customer is a blow that hit us harder than we could have imagined, particularly because of the unexpected nature of her demise. We want to extend our heartfelt sympathy once more to the family of the deceased; we pray that the almighty God will continue to grant them the fortitude to bear this painful loss.

“Despite the myriad of question and assumptions out in the public, we had earnestly refrained from making any statement until this moment for two reasons; mainly because we had to join the family and friends to mourn a beautiful life that was taken too soon, and to enable the police to extensively conduct and carry out their investigations.

“It, therefore, behoves on us at this moment to inform the general public of these series of facts. On the 14th of November 2021, a dear customer whilst leaving our premises tripped and fell and this led to her painful and untimely death. Owing to this tragedy, our management reached a decision to shut down our business so as to adequately mourn the deceased, and also allow the police unfettered access to conduct their investigations.”

The club mentioned that the female clubber was playing with her friends when she tripped and fell a few metres from the car park. However, she became unconscious and died on her way to the hospital. They further claimed that the Nigeria Police have carried out an extensive investigation and thoroughly reviewed their closed-circuit television.

“On that fateful morning, the deceased after leaving the club was happily playing around with her friends, when she made a slight run, tripped and fell down a few meters to the car park and became unconscious. Sadly, she passed on, on their way to the hospital. The Nigerian Police Force has extensively carried out their investigations and thoroughly reviewed our wide and lengthy CCTV footage and we await the report of this investigation.

“We assure the public that we have employed several health and safety standards and we will continue to place safety over profit. We have also used this bitter lesson to upgrade our already decent safety procedures and we would do our utmost best to continue to serve as a leader in this sector. May God bless the soul of the departed,” the statement added.

Hustle and Bustle is a club co-owned by popular socialite Obi Cubana

A Twitter user, @KhalidOshoke, took to his timeline and detailed the whole incident.

In a series of tweets seen by Unmask NG, it was disclosed there-in that Susan was electrocuted and she died at the Obi Cubana’s club premises.

According to the Twitter user, the management of the club was so negligent, such that it failed to accompany Susan to the hospital and report the matter to the police.

The tweets read: “My friend called me to tell me that his sister died at Hustle and Bustle early this morning. I quickly drove to the premises and I met my friend, friends of the deceased, and employees of the Hustle and Bustle at the venue.

“My friend and his people have been at Hustle and Bustle since morning demanding CCTV footage so at least we can know the events that led to her demise. The most astonishing aspect of all this is the fact that the employees keep saying that the manager is the only one with access to the footage and the manager is sleeping.

“My friend’s sister died on the premises and the manager is sleeping; we are still here waiting for him to wake up from his beauty sleep.”

Although, the Twitter user later disclosed that the deceased’s family had been granted access to the CCTV footage, and the matter had been reported to the police.

“Manager is finally here and we’ve seen the footage and she was obviously electrocuted by one of the metals on the floor.

“We’re all gathered at the police station and the management of Hustle and Bustle sent their facility manager to represent them. Not only did they not report the case, they didn’t accompany the deceased who died on their premises to the hospital. It took the manager seven hours to respond,” he wrote.

Meanwhile, prior to these tweets, Obi Cubana had taken to his social media pages, to announce that his Abuja club would be shut down over the death of one of his clients.

At the time he made the posts, the Anambra-born socialite did not disclose the circumstances that led to the client’s death, but only said the business would not continue at the club, at least for now.
