Despite Being A Muslim, Sani Dangote Buried 2 Days Later, Here’s Why

Despite Being A Muslim, Sani Dangote Buried 2 Days Later, Here's Why

Sani Dangote, the late Vice President of Dangote Group, and brother of the African richest man Aliko Dangote has on Wednesday, November 17, 2021, been laid to rest.

Unmaskng.com had reported that Sani died on Sunday, November 14, in a Miami hospital in the United States after a protracted illness.

However, while many people had thought Sani to be buried immediately as it relates to the religion he practised, which was Islam, he couldn’t be buried immediately as his body arrived in Kano State from the United States on Tuesday, November 16.

But two days after Sani passed away, his burial event which was led by Imam Sani Muhammad and attended by thousands of Muslims, was conducted at the palace of the Emir of Kano at about 11 a.m.

Unmaskng.com learnt that the deceased was buried at Sarari graveyard, where deceased members of Dantata family are buried.

Following the burial, Sheikh Tijjani Bala-Kalarawi, who led the prayers at the event, described the deceased as a humble, generous, and nice gentleman during his lifetime.

He stressed the need for people to judge themselves based on their deeds every day before going to bed, to enable them to do more good deeds while alive.

Farmnow Addresses Investors On ROI Concerns

Farmnow Addresses Investors On ROI Concerns

Agro-tech venture Farmnow, has addressed its investors on why some of them are experiencing delays in their Return On Investment (ROI).

In a circular seen by Unmask NG, the startup explained that it is currently going through a tough time, saying no thanks to the raging COVID-19 pandemic that has since disrupted the agric sector’s value chain.

According to Farmnow, insecurity, which has driven farmers away from their fields, is also another challenge that has led to the failure of its projection, especially as it relates to the paying out of ROI to its investors.

It is no news that Farmnow currently wades through a downtime, evident in the incessant rescheduling of payouts. This is due to the adverse effect of a drastic decline in our revenue as a result of an increase in the cost of production, unfavorable market conditions, and low spending power of consumers,” the circular read partly.

However, as part of efforts to sustain the business and secure returns for its investors, Farmnow said it has reviewed its farming projections, adding that the new ones that would soon be communicated were designed to fit into Nigeria’s economic realities.

Having boasted that in spite of the numerous economic challenges, no less than 70% ROI has been paid, Farmnow, therefore, appealed to investors who were yet to get their ROI to exercise patience.

The agro-tech company assured that within a period of 18 months, commencing from the date that would later be communicated, the rest of the ROI would have been fully paid.

“We crave your endurance and continuous cooperation as Farmnow is handling this as an inevitable growth phase. We hope to come out stronger with you as our all-time sustainable agro-wealth partner.

We apologize once again for the inconvenience,” the circular which was signed by Evelyn Oloyede, Farmnow’s business manager, added.

Emefiele: Crypto Ban Has Nothing To Do With #EndSARS

Emefiele: Crypto Ban Has Nothing To Do With #EndSARS

Governor Godwin Emefiele of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), has clarified that the ban on cryptocurrency in the country has nothing to do with #EndSARS, the nationwide against brutality by the citizenry.

Unmask NG understands that last year (2020), the Nigerian citizenry took to different parts of the country to express their displeasure at the way men of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), especially those of the defunct Special Anti-robbery Squad (SARS), a notorious unit of the police force known for wanton arrests, extra-judicial killings, assaults, and harassments, were making life unbearable for them to live.

As part of their demonstration, the #EndSARS protesters secured funding from donors through various channels, amongst which is cryptocurrency.

Shortly after the infamous Tuesday, October 20, 2020, massacre, the apex bank started to clamp down on #EndSARS protesters, as it froze the bank accounts of the campaign leaders.

However, speaking on the clampdown in an interview on Arive TV monitored by Unmask NG, Emefiele explained that CBN’s disapproval of cryptocurrency transactions in Nigeria is because of its illegality, and not #EndSARS as widely claimed.

While maintaining that Nigeria’s banking space would not support cryptocurrency, Emefiele noted that even in most developed countries, the digital asset was yet to be fully adopted.

His words: “As you said, the #EndSARS issue came up in October 2020 and we came up with the issue of saying that we would not make our banking and payment system space available to those who were involved in cryptocurrency business because we feel that a substantial portion of the transactions going on there are illegal.

Look at it this way: what is there to hide? Why are the transactions so hidden? Why are they encrypted? If I conduct a transaction and a regulator or security authority wants to see the nature of the transaction, those (transactions) can’t be encrypted for people to know what happened.  It means that cryptocurrency is a product that is embedded in high level of illegality.

ENDSARS has nothing to do with it. It so happened that some people used their cryptocurrency to fund it but it has nothing to do with it (CBN’s stance).

In fact, I have not seen more than one or two countries that have supported cryptocurrencies. You will not find developed economies or economies where high level of payment standards is put in place where the government is serious about tackling money laundering; you won’t find central banks in those climes supporting cryptocurrency.”

REVEALED: How Young Lady Died In Obi Cubana’s Club

REVEALED: How Young Lady Died In Obi Cubana's Club

An emerging piece of information has uncovered how a lady, who’s simply identified as Susan, died at Obi Cubana‘s club Hustle and Bustle in the Aminu Kano Crescent area of Wuse, Abuja.

Hustle and Bustle is a club co-owned by popular socialite Obi Cubana

A Twitter user, @KhalidOshoke, took to his timeline and detailed the whole incident.

In a series of tweets seen by Unmask NG, it was disclosed there-in that Susan was electrocuted and she died at the Obi Cubana’s club premises.

According to the Twitter user, the management of the club was so negligent, such that it failed to accompany Susan to the hospital and report the matter to the police.

The tweets read: “My friend called me to tell me that his sister died at Hustle and Bustle early this morning. I quickly drove to the premises and I met my friend, friends of the deceased, and employees of the Hustle and Bustle at the venue.

“My friend and his people have been at Hustle and Bustle since morning demanding CCTV footage so at least we can know the events that led to her demise. The most astonishing aspect of all this is the fact that the employees keep saying that the manager is the only one with access to the footage and the manager is sleeping.

“My friend’s sister died on the premises and the manager is sleeping; we are still here waiting for him to wake up from his beauty sleep.”

Although, the Twitter user later disclosed that the deceased’s family had been granted access to the CCTV footage, and the matter had been reported to the police.

“Manager is finally here and we’ve seen the footage and she was obviously electrocuted by one of the metals on the floor.

“We’re all gathered at the police station and the management of Hustle and Bustle sent their facility manager to represent them. Not only did they not report the case, they didn’t accompany the deceased who died on their premises to the hospital. It took the manager seven hours to respond,” he wrote.

Meanwhile, prior to these tweets, Obi Cubana had taken to his social media pages, to announce that his Abuja club would be shut down over the death of one of his clients.

At the time he made the posts, the Anambra-born socialite did not disclose the circumstances that led to the client’s death, but only said the business would not continue at the club, at least for now.

Singer Cheque Queries His Nationality As EFCC Arrests Him

Singer Cheque Queries His Nationality As EFCC Arrests Him

Popular singer Akanni Bamidele otherwise known as Cheque recently got into trouble, and he can’t help but wonder what kind of country he hailed from.

In a post seen by Unmask NG on his Instagram story, the Zoom crooner said some operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arrested him and took him into custody.

Although he didn’t mention the reason for his arrest, this publication believes that it may not be unconnected to profiling.

What you should know

In Nigeria, it is an open secret that security operatives move around on daily basis, hunting for young men they could accuse of doing fraud and extort from.

From EFCC to men of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), these security officials raid hotels, religious centres, homes, amongst others, to hunt for young people to extort from.

It’s so rampant in the Nigerian society, such that the citizenry floated #EndSARS, a nationwide campaign/protest against police brutality.

However, even though #EndSARS almost led to anarchy under President Muhammadu Buhari‘s watch, the issue still lingers. The arrest of Cheque has proven this further.

Air Peace Explains Why Cancellation Of Flights Is Inevitable

Air Peace Explains Why Cancellation Of Flights Is Inevitable
  • Air Peace CEO Allen Onyema discusses why its customers experience flights cancellation.

For Allen Onyema, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Air Peace, cancellation of flights is what its customers face due to unforeseen circumstances.

In an interview with This Day, where he explained why that happens sometimes, Onyema said Air Peace doesn’t joke with the safety of its customers, adding that climate change also influences the airline’s decision to cancel scheduled flights.

His words: “Flight cancellations or delays happen for several reasons. I don’t think any airline will cancel flights for the sake of canceling flights. And for Air Peace, other airlines may be doing about 20 flights or 25 flights in a day and if they cancel three flights or two flights, nobody will know about it. In Air Peace, we are almost doing 100 flights a day. So, if you cancel four, it will be all over the place. But the thing is that we fly more than any other person. And if we start flying at full capacity, we will be flying over 130 flights daily. So, there are so many reasons for cancellation, like yesterday (Monday, November 8, 2021) on the brand new plane, Embraer E195-E2, we had a bird strike and this is the second time we are having a bird strike on the brand new plane and that grounded the aircraft. Now, one of them is grounded, we have called on the manufacturers and they are sorting it out. Now, waking up during operations and a bird struck and flew into your engine, you can’t recover from it. You must have disruptions; some of the disruptions might go into cancellations, not only delays. When it happened yesterday, already people have bought into today’s schedule, what are we going to do? We now decided to bring out our Boeing B777 to mop up everywhere in order not to get people stranded. So, the good thing about Air Peace is that we can play with aircraft. If anything goes wrong, we bring in another one.

So what we did today was to roll out our B777 to take over some flight destinations because the other one had a bird strike. But it comes with some changes. So, these are some of the reasons why you have delays or cancellations. Nobody will cancel a flight for the fun of it.

“And one thing in Air Peace is that we don’t joke with safety. If we notice any problem, we ground that plane. Maybe it is something that could be managed elsewhere, but we ground our plane if there is any reason to do so. It is not as if the tech might be so serious, but you don’t know when it becomes more serious. We don’t joke with such. One thing you can be sure of with us is that when you go with us, you come back with us. Again, you talked about weather, rains, and thunderstorms. If you wake up in the morning and you want to go to Abuja by 6:30 am and the meteorologists now report thunderstorms en-route and thunderstorms on the destination, you have to wait. So, if you waste two hours or so, the whole day must be affected and every other place that the aircraft is programmed to operate to will be affected. But one thing I discovered is that Nigerians are highly critical of their airlines, especially Air Peace. Maybe it is because it is growing into a big airline, but I am aware that the way Nigerians attack their airline and say bitter things about them is not the way they complain about foreign carriers that come into this country. When they are flying with international airlines and you ask them to wait for five hours, they will wait without complaint. But two hours wait with Nigerian airline; they will start fighting the airline staff. Why is it so? There seems to be so much bitterness and antagonism against Air Peace, which is very disturbing and very worrisome.

Recently I saw an airline, a foreign airline skid off the runway, some five months ago, here in Lagos, nobody published it. And I was happy that nobody published it because writing about it would overheat our system. The aircraft ran into the grass, no publication on it. Nobody saw it on social media. But if Air Peace is moving and a nail enters the tyre, they will use the word crash. In everything about Air Peace, there is sustained negative publicity against the airline.

He, however, stated that Air Peace is scaling up its operations ahead of the fast-approaching yuletide period to avoid flight cancellations, and meet customers’ demands.

“A lot of people are scared that there are wouldn’t be enough flights. No, will be flights. We are yet to bring out our Christmas schedule, so people should not panic about flights.

On the 20th of this month, we are receiving two more planes. Before the end of the month, we will have another plane. We are receiving two Airbus A320s on the 20th. Airbus A320 carries about 160 passengers. Two will arrive on the 20th November; then before the end of the month another brand new Embraer E195-E2 will arrive and two of our Boeing B737s will come. So, some of the planes that have gone for C-check will start coming in, so we are yet to roll out our Christmas packages. People should not rush and be in a panic, there are enough flights.

“Air Peace has enough flights to go around for the Christmas, December schedules and we are yet to roll them out. And we are going to roll out the Christmas schedule soon. People will get flights so they should not panic,” the airline boss added.

VAT In Nigeria: Is Buhari Considering Out-of-court Settlement With Wike?

VAT In Nigeria: Is Buhari Considering Out-of-court Settlement With Wike?

VAT in Nigeria has been making news headlines in recent times.

Unmask NG would recall that a Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, on Monday, August 9, 2021, declared that the Rivers government and not the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) should collect VAT in the state.

The ruling became pertinent as the Governor Nyesom Wike‘s government dragged the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration to court

Following the Federal High Court ruling, the matter was taken to the court of appeal, which on Friday, September 10, held that parties should refrain from giving effect to the judgment of the trial court in Port Harcourt pending the hearing and determination of the application of the FIRS to stay execution of the trial court’s judgment.

But speaking on the VAT in Nigeria matter in an interview on Channels TV, monitored by this publication, Ahmed hinted that efforts are ongoing to resolve the issue in an out-of-court settlement.

I’m not supposed to be talking about issues in court but I do hope that this problem can be solved by sitting on the table; not on the pages of newspaper or disagreements in court because it is possible to solve it on the table, talking of political solution,” she stated.

When asked if the Buhari government was reaching out to the governors and if its representatives had met any of the governors over the matter, the minister responded in affirmative.

In her words, “There are a lot of efforts going on right now. As I said, I don’t want to discuss it because it’s in court so I have to be careful. But there will be a positive political solution. We are working towards an out-of-court solution.

Understanding VAT in Nigeria

VAT in Nigeria is understood to be a consumption type that the government levies on purchasers in any given instance.

To understand this better, think about the fact that as a consumer, there is a certain percentage amount of money you are mandated to pay on each good and service at every stage of production. For instance, you walk into a store to buy a doughnut, you would be charged VAT.

Please, note that the percentage of VAT you pay on each good and service depends on the existing law of the geographical entity you make your purchase.

VAT in Nigeira is 7.5 percentage. Although it used to be 5 percentage.

Fraud-accused Nigerian Pastor Celebrates Birthday In Yahoo-boy Style

Fraud-accused Nigerian Pastor Celebrates Birthday In Yahoo-boy Style

Fraud-accused Nigerian pastor Dapo Adegboyega, who’s based in the United Kingdom (UK), is no doubt having a good time, as he celebrated his 41st birthday in what is understood to be a yahoo-boy style.

Unmask NG understands that in Nigeria, the country Adegboyega hailed from, Yahoo-boys are young people who make earnings through fraudulent activities.

Amongst other offensive lifestyles they live, is the lavishing of their money on frivolous things, and display of the wealth they acquired through their fraudulent doings.

This is exactly what Adegboyega may have done considering the fact that he recently made news headlines, for allegedly defrauding one Rachael Daniel, who identified herself as his church member.

Fraud-accused Nigerian Pastor Celebrates Birthday In Yahoo-boy Style
Dapo Adegboyega

According to Daniel, Adegboyega, who headed the Board of Trustees of Salvation Proclaimers Army Church (SPAC), a Nigerian Pentecostal church based in the UK, took a loan of about £106,264 with interest amounting to £195,940.44 with her name and refused to pay everything eight years after.

Daniel said a total of £85,000 was paid back in a piecemeal fashion, leaving about £110,000 yet to be paid.

Narrating her ordeal to SaharaReporters, the victim said her traumatic ordeals in the hands of the pastor started after he approached her that he wanted to purchase a property for the church and that she should assist him with a loan.

In her words: “When he was my resident pastor at World Evangelism Bible Church (WEBIC), he asked us to assist him secure a loan, that he wanted to purchase a property for the church. This was in 2012; we had a board meeting where he said he needed our help. And I replied that I would approach my bank and get back to him.

“I never knew he had other means of securing a loan. He talked about £10,000-£20,000. Anyway, to cut the long story short, he met with a broker – Grant & Hind – who gave him £110,000 and with interest amounting to £198,000, and the money was transferred into my own account. I was away when he called me that the money was in my account and that I should come back from my holiday and make the transfers; £90,000 to the church account and £20,000 to his own account.

After that, he left the church with half of the members for his father’s church. Before leaving, he said my money would be paid back in full. He even made mention of paying £50,000 that day. Right there in the pulpit/altar.  When he finished talking, I approached him and he said I knew where the money went to so why was I troubling him. My brother, I thought it was a joke. When this loan was taken initially, there was no agreement or anything of such.

I never knew he made a repayment agreement for 35 years while he told me that after they have purchased the property, it would be within a month. Since 2017, they have refused to pay, I’ve been chasing them all over the place. I took a lawyer that wrote them until he got tired and they refused to reply. They just received the letters and acted as if nothing happened. When I couldn’t pay the lawyer anymore, I rested. In 2017-18, I couldn’t cope with it, I tried contacting his younger brother, Tobi Adegboyega, who is the main pastor of their dad’s church here and he gave me money for two months £1,200 and promised to meet with the bank to clear the debt.

Racheal said to her surprise, Tobi, like his elder brother, blocked her phone numbers after four months.

Thereafter, he (Tobi) refused to pay and answer my calls; it was a struggle to get him to pay for the third month. By the fourth month, he literally blocked me completely, I couldn’t reach him. I went to the father who is aware of everything. The father’s name is Prophet Samson Adegboyega of SPAC Nation, Ibadan. He kept me posted like forever, he eventually asked me to write a soft appeal letter to Tobi Adegboyega so that he could see what he could use to assist me.

“I wrote as soft as I could and sent to the father to send to him. Whenever I call the father, it’s either he is sleeping or in a meeting for the past five years now. I’m just appealing to the general public to please ask Adedapo Adegboyega of SPAC Nation to pay back Halifax loan of £198,000 he fraudulently took with my name.

Asked why she did not go to the police, she replied, “I actually went to the police over here in the UK but they told me a lawyer knows what to do. But I couldn’t afford to pay a lawyer anymore, so I rested.”

OPEC: Nigeria No Longer Africa’s Largest Oil Producer

OPEC: Nigeria No Longer Africa's Largest Oil Producer

Nigeria is no longer Africa’s largest oil producer. This is according to the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), who disclosed this development in a report.

In the report, the intergovernmental organisation established for oil-related purposes, revealed that Nigeria’s oil production output dropped further last month (October 2021). Hence, Libya now tops the list of Africa’s largest oil producers.

Amid lingering oil supply disruptions due to COVID-19 pandemic, Nigeria told OPEC that its oil output fell to about 1.23 million barrels per day (bpd) in the month under review from about 1.25 million bpd in September.

Libya, which overtook Angola as the second-biggest producer on the continent in December last year, saw its oil production rise to 1.24 million bpd in October from 1.16 million bpd in September, based on direct communication, according to OPEC.

OPEC uses secondary sources to monitor its oil output, but also publishes a table of figures submitted by its member countries.

According to secondary sources, Nigeria’s production declined by 45,000 bpd to 1.35 million bpd in October from about 1.40 million bpd in September.

Nigeria recorded the second biggest drop in output in October among its peers in OPEC, after Iraq, based on direct communication. The country’s production fell the most in the month, according to secondary sources.
